From the hundreds of truly inspiring submissions we received, we are proud to introduce the line-up of speakers for the very first Advancing Learning New Voices event on Wednesday 25th September 2024

The beauty of these 11 speakers and their talks is not only that they are grounded in the realities of the modern-day classroom, but they are all so wonderfully and powerfully creative in their own way. From microlearning to learners’ true motivation, and from transformative TPD to film-making, our first New Voices is going to be an event to remember.

  • What Really Motivates Your Students?

Some students may desperately need to improve their level of English to secure employment. Others might have been forced to attend classes by their parents. It isn't always easy to integrate each individual’s motivation for learning a language into group classes. During this talk, I will offer 4 distinct strategies a teacher can use to integrate their learners’ reason for learning English into their classes.

  • Transformative Teacher Development Activities

Transformative teacher development activities INSPIRE teachers. Based on Richardson and Díaz Maggioli’s (2018) effective professional development framework, this webinar showcases how impactful, needs-based, sustained over time, peer-collaborative, in-practice, reflective and evaluated activities can foster professional growth. Drawing on my own experience in teaching and teacher training, I will illustrate each of these seven characteristics to encourage teachers to engage in teacher development initiatives that enhance their professional practice and their students’ learning.

  • Minimax in Workstations

Minimax in Workstations is an innovative approach that optimizes effort, resources, and time to achieve maximum student learning outcomes. This concept features four distinct workstations tailored to diverse learning styles: visual, tactile, verbal, and technology-based (ICT). This dynamic and enjoyable method ensures that all students' needs are met efficiently, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment where both students and teachers thrive. • Teaching English to Students with Dyslexia

Around 15% of your students have dyslexia. But you probably don’t know who they are. Many times, neither do they. Yet, their brain processes the information it receives differently, so the way you teach doesn’t work for them. That’s why they seem lazy, unmotivated, uninterested, and sometimes thick. In this talk, we’re going to have a look at what dyslexia is, the main red flag to recognize it, and several strategies to teach them effectively.

During this talk, I will cover the advantages of using podcasts in the classroom and provide a brief guide on how teachers can set up their own Podcast Circles. Additionally, I will suggest a curated list of podcasts that teenage students will love.

  • Using Coursebooks to Personalize Online Classes

Nowadays, there is a misunderstanding about what constitutes a personalized class tailored to the needs of each student.
